B.C. Wildfire Service respond to 23 blazes this week


Since April 1, the Service has responded to 181 wildfires in the Southeast Fire Centre

In the past week, B.C. Wildfire Service firefighters have responded to 23 lightning-caused blazes in the Southeast Fire Centre, an area that ranges from the U.S. border in the south to the Mica Dam in the north and from the Okanagan Highlands and Monashee Mountains in the west to the Alberta border in the east.


Many of the 23 wildfires are still visible, but none currently threaten communities or buildings. The fire danger rating in most of the area currently high.


Since April 1, the Service has responded to 181 wildfires in the area. Of those, 51 were caused by humans.
