UK motorbike enthusiasts who have their eye on the new Ducati 899 Panigale can now see the new model at dealerships across the country.

British retailers have taken delivery of demonstrator models of the high-performance machine this week, allowing customers to get some first-hand experience of the attractive new bike before the first customer units arrive in the coming days.

The Ducati 899 Panigale has been designed as a “Supermid” model, representing an entry-level option for those wishing to get a taste of premium performance for a relatively affordable price.

It features an innovative monocoque frame solution and the brand-new 899 Superquadro L-twin engine, which incorporates race-derived electronics that allows a special Riding Mode to be enabled with the click of a button.

When this mode is active, performance will be enhanced through the use of a sports ABS system, as well as Ducati Traction Control, Ducati Quick-Shift, Engine Brake Control and Ride-by-Wire technology.

The engine also features a revised bore and stroke for broad power delivery – producing 148hp with a torque of 73 pounds per foot – while its super-smooth power unit is a fully stressed Panigale monocoque construction that offers an outstanding power-to-weight ratio and ride-enhancing agility, with a dry weight of 169 kg.

Other appealing attributes of the bike include its increased seat cushioning and shortened final drive gearing for enhanced mid-range rideability.

Ducati said: “The new model achieves a successful mix of authentic Italian performance with everyday usability, thereby offering the very best of both worlds in absolute style.”

The 899 Panigale made its debut at the final round of the British Superbike Championship at Brands Hatch last month, during which four-time World Superbike champion Carl Fogarty led a demonstration lap of the Kent circuit on the new machine.

It is set to be made generally available later this month for a price of £12,495, with options including red with black wheels or white with red wheels.
