The days may be growing shorter, colder and more miserable, but for British motorbike enthusiasts the encroaching winter gloom will be offset by the excitement of the imminent Motorcycle Live 2013 event in Birmingham.
Always one of the undisputed highlights of any UK biker’s calendar, the expo – which runs from November 23rd to December 1st this year – is like Christmas come early for anyone who wants to get a look at some of the hottest new motorcycle models that are soon to hit the market.
The last few days have given us a few more indications of exactly what’s in store, as the annual EICMA International Motorcycle Exhibition has been taking place in Milan, providing the world’s leading manufacturers with an opportunity to unveil their new and updated machines – many of which will be making their UK debuts at Motorcycle Live in a few short weeks.
For example, Ducati has confirmed that it will be bringing its newly-revealed limited edition 1199 Superleggera to the event, as well as the Monster 1200, the third generation version of its iconic Monster range.
Meanwhile, Honda will showcase four new 2014 models – the CBR1000RR Fireblade SP super sports machine, the CB650F and CBR650F four cylinder middleweights and the CTX1300 custom cruiser.
BMW Motorrad will be bringing its all-new R1200 RT tourer and S1000R high-performance roadster, plus a number of updated models, while a pair of 2014 Kawasakis will also be showcased in the form of the Z1000 Supernaked and the distinctive J300 scooter.
Other attractive machines that attendees will be able to see include the revamped Vespa Primavera, Aprilia RSV4 R ABS and Factory ABS, the black Moto Guzzi V7 Stone and the advanced Suzuki V-Strom 1000.
Finally, UK manufacturer Triumph unveiled five new models at EICMA 2014 – the Thunderbird Commander, Commander LT, America, America LT and Speedmaster.
All of these bikes – plus offerings from Harley-Davidson, Royal Enfield, Victory and more – will be on display at the NEC in Birmingham for Motorcycle Live 2013, which is sure to have enthusiasts and their families queuing round the block.
