Veterans have a variety of factors to consider when choosing where they want to retire, including access to quality VA hospitals and doctors, lifestyle factors and proximity to family.
A recent study by WalletHub examined a variety of data to rank each state in terms of its friendliness for military retirees. But are veterans actually choosing those states for their retirement?
There are about 10 million veterans aged 65 and older living in the United States, according to the National Center for Veterans Analysis and Statistics. Not suprisingly, those veterans tend to retire in the same locations that most of the rest of the country’s retirees choose to spend their golden years.
Following is a list of the 10 states many veterans over age 65 call home.
